Remote control snail

Step one get a bag and fill it with glue step two , sniff 'til your face turns blue.. No joking aside, this has been the most painful objective I started all year and have yet to complete. I bought a remote control car with the great intention of making it a speedy snail.

I made the tail out of chicken wire and paper maché and spray painted it acid green (I don't think snails have tails but what else can you call it?). It was a perfect fit out of pure chance. I thought my job was going to be easy after this but oh how wrong was I.

Started to make the head in the same way with chicken wire. Chicken wire is pretty expensive these days ! Has anyone noticed ? Anyway yeah I took the same steps as with the tail and this is how it turned out.

Voila!

Now for the tricky part, which is still wrecking my head at present. I made a pretty decent shell out of wire with the help of Elaine Riordan my tutor in college. I was sure I would finish it and cover it nicely in no time but no covering it came as a serious challenge. As you can see here in the picture the side spiral I have covered with wool as crepe paper didn't work at all as it disguised the spiral completely. I covered the other parts with crepe paper or at least some, just enough to not hide that it was a shell.

This is what the remote control snail is looking like at present. Still has plenty of work to be done to it but I am confident that I can have it up and running before my assessments. Gerrup ya lil' Rocket.
